The Super Ladder – What’s the Use of DNA? / Children's Book Illustration

I have illustrated more books for Ildi Vibók than for any other author so far, which is especially exciting for me since Ildi, as a biologist, writes science-themed children’s books cleverly woven into charming stories.

Her Emma series explores a variety of topics through the eyes of a curious red-haired girl who learns from her scientist friend. These stories introduce children to subjects such as genetics, the immune system, and the nervous system, while other books focus on responsible pet ownership or explain why it is irresponsible for humans to consume krill.

In this particular volume, Emma and her scientist friend try to understand how Emma ended up with curly red hair while her mother is blonde and her father has brown hair.

The book features a few full-page illustrations but is mostly enriched with smaller, informal drawings designed to make the scientific concepts more engaging and easier to understand.
